TERMS AND CONDITIONS OF USE OF IE COMMUNITIES
1.- Definition of and IE community:
ieCommunities group together directors that fulfil the dual condition of exercising their profession within the macrosector in question, and having a direct relation with IE Business school as a student, alumnus/a, professor, collaborator or any other capacity that members consider sufficient motive for their being invited to participate in community life.
The community is intended to serve as a platform for the exchange of knowledge and ideas among its members, and to support the lifelong training and professional careers of its members.
2.- Admission, joining and signing off.
Admission to the community will be automatic once the application of the interested party has been processed if said person is a student, alumnus/a, or professor of IE.
In the case of persons who do not form part of the academic circle, applications must be presented by an active member of the community and the admission will be accepted or denied by the editing team and the head of the community, having considered the candidate’s capacity to contribute value to the rest of the members.
A member leaves the community by requesting to do so, with no obligation to specify the motive, or at the request of the community’s management team, after consulting the editors and head of the community. The latter of these cases will only arise if a member is deemed to prevent the community from achieving its full potential or for non-fulfilment of general norms of use. For information purposes, the following are considered as sufficient motive to expel a member from the community:
• Non-fulfilment of conditions related to access to and use of website
condiciones de acceso y utilización del sitio web

The communities are a service that IE provides voluntarily for its members and expulsion will in no circumstances have a basis for appeal
3.- Organisation
The initial structure of IE’s global communities is as follows:
Head of community: the lead member who coordinates the activity of the editors who oversee each line of work, and initiates and closes activities or lines of work in accordance with the proposals of community members.
Editors: Member of the community to whom the head of community delegates the coordination of a specific line of work. Their particular responsibility is to lend support to the co-editors under them, to propose and coordinate new activities, to propose new members on request of an interested party or on their own initiative, etc.
Co-editors: These members of the community collaborate directly with the editors to keep up the dynamics of the activity in the work area that they have been assigned.
Collaborators: These fully-fledged members focus on providing information, events, experiences and content that is pertinent to the activities of the community in question.
In order to give impetus to the start of activities, IE is developing an electronic platform, the first version of which features the following:
1.- Community blog: this will comprise the communities’ “editorial arm”, and is subject to the following norms:
• The head of the community and the editors responsible for each line of work may edit the blog. The editors may also propose articles to the co-editors or collaborators that they consider to be of interest.
• The articles and comments must be visible for members of the community and for the general public. They must be open to comments from registered members, but not the general public.
• As far as possible very recent issues should be avoided because that is more of a journalistic style, and this forum should be working along more professional, long-term lines.
• The blog should contain “neutral” observations, i.e. comments should not refer to companies related to the author of the article or comment.
• Users comments will be subject to the following CC licence
CC license
2.- Community forum: Strictly reserved for registered members. The head of the community and the editors will undertake general or specific tasks of supervision, based on the structure of the lines of work, given that any registered member can post comments.Hence the forum will work as follows:
• The head of community and editors define the basic structure. They also act as moderators, albeit as seldom as possible.
• All members of the community can post comments, and very occasionally, a non-member guest may participate in a specific debate.
• The forum should be considered as a place to debate ideas and for intellectual confrontation, and its dynamics should be open, vibrant and deep, as well as respectful and polite.
• The articles and comments should only be visible for members of the community with the exception of the occasional guest for a specific subject.
• Forumists may open up as many subjects as they wish and/or are considered of interest. This is the place for discussion on latest trends.
• Members are expected to adhere to the notion of a “gentlemen’s (or ladies’!) agreement, particularly people who are working on the same specific aspects as other members, but in different companies which may be competitors.
• Members should adhere at all times to the forum norms.
